‘Hasiera Bat’ (A Beginning) is the first album Gorka Urbizu is signing on his own. After a journey of 25 years leading the band Berri Txarrak, this musician from Navarre is now betting on beauty and toughness, offering us a way towards to the very heart of the song. Avoiding any temptation to add layers upon layers of sound, the author chooses just the opposite route: the album seems to keep the premise of emptying and striping the songs down to their bare expression. Beautiful. Rough. Pure. That is what makes them tough as rocks, fragile as a leaf in the wind.
